The Society of Australian Genealogists (SAG) is Australia’s oldest family history organisation. It supports people in discovering their ancestors, understanding their heritage, and sharing their stories through education, research, and collaboration. Welcoming both enthusiasts and professionals, the Society’s mission is to advance learning in history and genealogy. A non-profit company sustained by staff, volunteers, and members, the SAG continues to foster excellence and community within Australian family history. 

Founded by Cathie Sherwood,, an educator and professional family historian, Family History Academy (FHA) delivers high-quality virtual education for genealogists around the world. Combining academic rigour with interactive, flexible learning, the Academy connects participants with leading experts through engaging courses and workshops. Each program is designed to challenge, inspire, and expand research and analytical skills while fostering collaboration and community. With small class sizes, innovative formats, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, Family History Academy represents a new era in genealogical learning—where accessibility meets depth, and education evolves with technology.
