NSW Records Masterclass
Discover New South Wales’ rich archival heritage in this immersive three-day masterclass hosted by the Society of Australian Genealogists and Family History Academy in collaboration with the Museums of History New South Wales. Designed for experienced and professional-level family historians, Past in Practice combines expert teaching with hands-on exploration of original colonial, convict, land, and immigration records.
Guided by archive staff and leading researchers, participants will work directly with primary sources that rarely appear online, learning advanced research techniques and contextual analysis in a collaborative environment. The program includes practical workshops, guided research sessions, and discussions that illuminate the complexity and value of the state’s historical collections.
More than a course, Past in Practice is an opportunity to work where history lives — deepening your understanding of archival research, expanding your professional networks, and refining the skills that bring family histories vividly to life.
